Maggie Dunsmuir
Maggie Dunsmuir represents a diverse group of clients in the areas of permanent residence, naturalization, deportation, detention, asylum and visas. Ms. Dunsmuir has written hundreds of briefs, appeals, motions and memoranda to the Immigration Service, Executive Office for Immigration Review, and Board of Immigration Appeals as well as federal courts. She has prevailed in many cases for clients who received visas and green cards under both the Violence Against Women Act and Trafficking Victims Protection Act.
A graduate of Brooklyn Law School, Ms. Dunsmuir received a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis. She also studied abroad at the University College Dublin in Ireland and a Spanish language program in Guatemala.
During law school, Ms. Dunsmuir’s immigration law experience included interning at Catholic Charities Immigration Services and the New York Immigration Court, where she researched complex legal issues and drafted decisions for immigration judges. She also interned at Advocates for Children of New York, South Brooklyn Legal Services Housing Law Unit, and Legal Aid Society Prisoners Rights Project.
Prior to her legal career, Ms. Dunsmuir worked for years as an adult literacy educator and as an editorial assistant for an art book publisher.
A member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, she is admitted to the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division.
