How Do I Stop Myself from Being Deported?

“Being deported” is the most frightening thing for any immigrant. I have frequently met with old clients who tell me of bad dreams they still have about being deported, long after they have become United States citizens.

MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ARE DEPORTED EVERY YEAR

Nearly 3 Million immigrants have been removed since President Obama took office. Approximately 500,000 immigrants are waiting to see judges to argue against deportation. That means that your case is one of hundreds of thousands, and your chances of being deported can be high.

STOPPING DEPORTATION IS POSSIBLE -BUT NOT ALONE

I have written about this before here. An immigration lawyer knows ways for you to stay in the country. There are different categories that people might fall into depending on if they are married, engaged, have children, or need medical help etc…A good immigration attorney knows all the rules, and is up-to-date on any new ways to use them.

IT’S BETTER TO TRY AND STOP DEPORTATION, THAN TO TRY AND GET BACK IN AFTER DEPORTATION

Once you have been deported it is much more difficult to get back into the country. Not impossible, but more challenging. No matter how long you have lived here. No matter if you have always been here legally. Once you are in danger of being deported you should be going to get the best green card lawyer  you can find.

The immigration system is very tough, and once you are being threatened with -or facing- deportation you are already in trouble.

Do not go it alone. Do not hire the lawyer closest to your home. Do not talk to an attorney who handles real estate, divorce, criminal law, bankruptcy . . . and immigration.

DON’T PANIC UNTIL YOU TALK TO A PROFESSIONAL

If you are worrying about being deported, maybe you have nothing to worry about. Or maybe your fear is very real. Either way, you need to find out in person. Searching the internet for articles for hours in a panic is only going to make you more scared about being deported.

When you worry about your heart, you call a heart specialist.

When you break your arm, you call an orthopedist.

When you worry about being deported, you call an immigration law firm that concentrates in fighting for you.
