During COVID it’s very hard to know how long an application can take. However if you have you been waiting a long time for your application for a Green Card, Work Visa, Student Visa, or any other immigration application? We’ve had a lot of success going through the immigration service to speed up applications that have stalled or are just taking too long.

HOW LONG CAN IT TAKE TO GET YOUR IMMIGRATION APPLICATION?

Depending on the service as well as geography, you could be waiting anywhere from months to years! Here are some estimates in the most applied for immigration services.

  • Green cards can take anywhere from 7- 33 months.
  • Family Sponsorship processing takes from 6-12 months, or more.
  • Employment-Based Visas processing could be from 1 year for visas with low demand TO 4 or 6 years for visas with very high demand.
  • Green Card Through Marriage can take 10-13 months at minimum.
  • Diversity Visa Lottery Winners are announced after seven months, and it can take many more months to receive your visa.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY NATURALIZATION/GREEN CARD:

What they say:
When you look online, you are told from multiple sites that a Green Card can take anywhere from 7-33 months. We looked online on USCIS for case processing times for Newark, New Jersey, and USCIS is telling us that number is far greater. At 13.5-20 months, you could be waiting a long time!

What we can do:
Attend to the needs of our clients through daily review of the never ending changes that seem to be coming from the Immigration Service, federal courts, and the presidential administration.

SPEEDING UP OTHER IMMIGRATION SERVICES

For other applications, the length of time you wait before filing a case varies. Also, other considerations may affect whether this type of lawsuit would be beneficial in your case.  There are other helpful ways to speed up a case, including Premium Processing. We also wrote about how to speed up your green card process here.

Ultimately the best way to ensure your visa applications or green card/naturalization processing goes through as quickly as possible is to ensure you have included everything you need in your application, and there are no errors. Over the last two decades, we have helped thousands of people get through their immigration process as quickly and as smoothly as possible.
