New Jersey Same Sex Marriage Immigration – The 7 Things You Must Know

By: Harlan York
October 21, 2013

You may have already concluded that Same Sex Marriage Immigration just improved in New Jersey.

The state has become the 14th where gay couples can marry legally.

  1. New Jersey joins California, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington, along with the District of Columbia, as places where gay marriage is now legal.
  2. Same Sex couples who filed for green cards through marriage this year have already received interview notices for green card applications.
  3. Additionally, Same Sex Marriage Immigration Petitions have already been approved by the federal government.
  4. No longer will two men or two women who live in New Jersey need to travel to other states or countries where same sex marriage is legal.
  5. As the federal government points out, Same Sex Marriage Immigration is now the same as Opposite Sex Marriage Immigration.  But there is much work to be done.
  6. The Immigration Service will conduct interviews with all married couples regarding their relationships, reviewing evidence of the relationship.
  7. You must remember that Immigration Officers may have questions for immigrants (or their American spouses) with divorces from earlier heterosexual marriages.  You should consult with the best immigration lawyer you can find.  Ask about the possibility of obtaining an expert psychological report, to explain legitimate tendencies towards bisexuality.

While Same Sex Marriage Immigration just became more expedient for New Jersey residents, you really need to confer with a superior immigration attorney, about all of the newest laws.  This process is still in its genesis.

Any outstanding lawyer – who has dealt with Immigration for many years and handled thousands of cases – will tell you that nothing is easy in working through the bureaucracy.

Be very careful.  You have waited for a very long time to exercise your rights to same sex marriage immigration.  Seek advice.
