What Immigration Lawyers Do: 4 Main Points

Back on October 3, 2013, I wrote a blog post called THE WORST IMMIGRATION CASES AND HOW THE BEST IMMIGRATION LAWYERS WIN THEM.  Essentially I talked about what immigration lawyers do.

In that piece, I typed the following words:

The fact is,

if you are willing to invest time, effort and money,

and you have a realistic viewpoint,

then you do what one woman cried out this week,

“we have to try!”

Well, a funny thing happened the other day . . .

We received a response on the case of that woman with the virtually impossible case.

Yes, the same lady who emphatically shouted out “we have to try!”

Guess what?

WE WON HER CASE.

  • We had to try, she pleaded.
  • We were not sure that we could win her case.
  • But we listened.
  • Now she has a new chance at freedom.

So, here is what immigration lawyers do:

  1. They listen carefully.
  2. They study immigration laws.
  3. They work hard at saving families.
  4. They take on cases that other attorneys do not want.

And additionally, here is what immigration lawyers do:

They stand up for those who cannot speak for themselves.

They advocate for people lost in an elaborate system with insane rules.

They actually care about their clients.

And besides that, what immigration lawyers do:

They apply for green cards and citizenship for their clients before Immigration Service offices and service centers throughout the country.

They request visas for immigrants from the United States Department of State at Embassies and Consulates all over the world.

They appear in the Executive Office for Immigration Review, in Immigration Court, arguing for relief for the hundreds of thousands of immigrants facing deportation nationally.

They file appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals, Administrative Appeals Office, Federal District and Circuit Courts, and, on occasion, the United State Supreme Court.

They win cases.

That’s “what immigration lawyers do.”
